Passado Contínuo - Inglês
O passado contínuo é usado para expressar ações que tiveram um certa duração no passado. Ele é formado pelo verbo auxiliar to be no passado (was ou were) e o verbo principal com a terminação ing. Para a forma interrogativa e negativa do passado contínuo são formados com o verbo to be no passado e o verbo principal não muda.

Paula was smoking his pipe = Was Paula smoking his pipe? = Paula was not smoking his pipe
My sisters were playing ball = Were my sisters playing ball? = My sisters were not playing ball
